Troy musicians collecting donations for local food pantry

TROY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Some Troy musicians are banding together to help raise money for the food pantry at the Oakwood Community Center. Bands will be collecting food at their shows leading up to the Rock the Pantry event at the end of November.

The Oakwood Food Pantry serves 50 to 60 families each week, and organizers said the food collections will help families in need ahead of the holiday season.

“We’ve seen a huge increase in need recently, which is in line with other food pantries, and less and less food available. Volunteers are going and buying rice because we can’t get that from the regional food bank.”

The Rock the Pantry showcase will take place on November 23 at the Hangar on the Hudson.
