The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:

Periods of rain, some heavy, will continue into this afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front. Rain chances dwindle by this evening, with drier, fair weather ensuing into this weekend, but don’t forget that umbrella today!

Expect it to rain for a good amount of the day, especially late this morning and early this afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder are possible, too.

Temperatures should be able to climb several degrees higher than yesterday despite the threat for heavy rain – highs in the 60s to near 70 degrees.

Stray showers may linger into the evening hours, but drier weather starts to take over by Friday morning. Clouds will hang a little bit tougher down south, where lows may struggle to drop below 60. Farther north, more substantial clearing by Friday morning is on tap, allowing temperatures to cool into the upper 40s and lower 50s.

The theme from the overnight hours persists into Friday – more clouds will be found the farther south you find yourself in the News10 viewing area. High temperatures will be comfortable mild for the end of September, with highs generally in the lower 70s.

We are looking at a GREAT weekend ahead – there is no bad choice for outdoor activities with highs in the low to mid 70s each day. Temperatures may end up a degree or two higher Sunday under more consistent sunshine, but the difference between the two days will be hard to notice!

Great weather persists into the start of the work week. We are tracking a batch of showers for the start of October, with recent data suggesting a slight delay in start time. This means the daytime hours Tuesday are favored to be dry with increasing clouds. While Wednesday doesn’t appear to be a washout at this time, occasional, scattered rain showers are in the forecast right now.
