The crash happened in the early morning hours of September 1 near Waters Road. The 2022 Honda Civic had been traveling eastbound on Route 5 before it veered off the road, crashing into trees before landing in a ditch.

The four people who died were all Schenectady residents: Elijah Holmes, 24, Nyvon Irizarry, 25, Quiessence Irizarry, 24, and John Kemp, who would have turned 25 two days later. All of the victims were parents who had young children.

At the time of the crash, Glenville police said that the Honda Civic was traveling with at least three other cars that had just left a party in Amsterdam. The investigation found that speed and alcohol impairment were the main factor to the crash. The roads were also wet and foggy.

The incident was, allegedly, captured on Facebook Live. At the time of the crash, Glenville police urged anyone with information to come forward.
