    Rensselaer Common Council votes to override the mayors veto

    RENSSELAER, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) – The Rensselaer Common Council voted to override Mayor Mike Stammel’s veto of the common council’s decision to drastically reduce city employee Jason Scofield’s pay.

    Common Council President John DeFrancesco told NEWS10 that they needed to make the resolution stronger, “The vote was 5 to pass the override and 1 against.”

    Schofield, who formerly plead guilty to voter fraud in Rensselaer County, had his salary reduced from nearly $40,000 a year, to a mere $100 annually.  The council voted to take that money out of the budget September 4.
