LATHAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Shaker football team continues to steamroll any opponent in its path. The Blue Bison shut out rival Colonie Friday night, 55-0, retaining the Colonie Cup and improving to 4-0. They now boast a +125 scoring differential.

Shaker got its ground game going early. Jake Smith started the scoring with a 22-yard touchdown run. Nick Graziano followed suit, reaching paydirt from four yards out, and the Blue Bison owned a 13-0 edge after the first quarter.

The second stanza was all about defense and special teams. Melvin Brown came away with an 86-yard scoop-and-score before Dom DiBacco recorded a pick-six, and Shaker’s lead ballooned to 27-0.

Then the Wolf Pack were hit with a steady diet of Smith. After reaching the end zone for his second rushing score of the night, he provided the exclamation point on a dominant first half of football with a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Shaker led 41-0 going into halftime, and tacked on two more touchdowns out of the break to cruise to the 55-0 win.

Shaker, tied with CBA atop the Class AA standings, is back at home next week to take on Albany. Colonie (1-3) travels to Saratoga Springs in Week 4.
