NCAA basketball tournament not coming to Albany in 2027, 2028

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The NCAA basketball tournaments will not return to Albany until at least 2029. Host sites for the 2027 and 2028 tournaments were released, and Albany did not make either list.

Men’s and women’s basketball tournament games were played at MVP Arena in each of the past two years and brought thousands of fans from around the country. Albany County leaders said last year’s men’s tournament generated more than $6 million in revenue, which was almost twice as much as projected.

Men’s ice hockey tournament games are scheduled to be played at MVP Arena in 2026.
