Saratoga Co. offering extended hours for Passport Night

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– The Saratoga County Clerk’s Office is hosting an event for residents needing a passport but can’t make it to the office during regular business hours. Passport Night is Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the clerk’s office on McMaster Street.

Anyone interested in getting a passport should bring an original or certified copy of a birth certificate and photo ID to the event. Additionally, applicants must bring a money order or check made out to the Department of State to pay for the $130 application. A separate check or cash is needed for processing fees, as well as a passport photo.

Passport processing takes approximately six to eight weeks, but applicants can expedite their passports for an additional $60. Applicants looking to renew a previously issued 10-year passport need to mail it, and a required new photo can be taken at the clerk’s office.

The Department of State website offers access to downloadable copies of passport applications . Anyone with questions about passports or the application process can call the Saratoga County Clerk’s Office at (518) 885-2213.

Passport Night Fees

• Passport book- $130 for adult applications and $100 for children under 16 years old
• Passport cards- $30 for adults and $15 for children under 16 years old
• Processing fee- $35 per application
• Passport photos- $10
• Expedited service- $60 per applicant
