    Albany woman accused of weapon possession, assault

    ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Police arrested an Albany woman on Tuesday for allegedly hitting a man in the head with an unloaded shotgun. Melinda Morrissey, 47, is facing multiple charges.

    Police responded to a call about a person with a weapon at a house on North Pearl Street near Steuben Street. Officers said Morrissey was arguing with the man about their relationship when she allegedly pointed an unloaded shotgun at him and then hit him in the head with it.

    Police said Morrissey then went to the rooftop and threw the shotgun off the top of the building, hitting a parked car’s windshield and shattering the windshield. Morrissey was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Wednesday morning and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation Services.

    Charges

    • One count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
    • One count of second-degree menacing
    • One count of third-degree assault
    • One count of fourth-degree criminal mischief
