“The Ghostly Gallop began as a community fun run, initiated by library trustee William Cranna and other dedicated library supporters,” Library Director Emily Chameides said. “We invite everyone to join us in this spirit—to have fun and support our library’s programs and services for all ages.”

The Ghostly Gallop features two events leading up to the 5K. Participants are encouraged to dress up for the Ghostly Gallop costume contest and kids under 12, can participate in their own, 1-mile, free run.

Each participant of the kids run will receive a finisher medal, a personalized race bib and book, courtesy of the Hudson Children’s Book Festival. Prizes will also be offered during the costume contest for several categories.

The 5K walk and run itself will start at 10:30 a.m. with runners and walkers going through the city of Hudson, past the library on North 5th Street and back to the school. Ages 17 and under who decide to join the 5K, will have free admission.

“The Ghostly Gallop has always been first and foremost about having fun,” said race co-director and library trustee Crystal Jeffs. “We’re excited to come together again to run, walk, and support the library.”

Top finishers of the race will earn a special memento, and all finishers will receive a finisher medal. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in seven age categories and prizes will be given to the largest and fastest teams as well as to the top individual and team fundraisers.

To help support the library, registrants can raise funds on their own by requesting donations from friends and family through the registration website. To register, visit the Hudson Area Library’s website .
