St. Peter’s reaches agreement with UnitedHealthcare

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — St. Peter’s Health Partners has announced that it has reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare. This means those with UnitedHealthcare can continue to have access to St. Peter’s services, effective immediately.

A contract dispute between the hospital and insurance company began in July, with the contract expiring on July 1. New York State law gave patients with UnitedHealthcare a 60-day extension for services , which lasted until September 1.

“People enrolled in employer-sponsored commercial plans, Medicare Advantage plans, including Group Retiree and Dual Special Needs Plans, as well as our UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of New York (Medicaid), can now once again receive in-network services and care from St. Peter’s providers and hospitals,” said a UnitedHealthcare spokesperson.

“SPHP is excited that we have reached an agreement with UHC. In today’s healthcare environment, it is critically important that payers and providers collaborate on behalf of our patients,” said Steven Hanks, MD, President and CEO of St. Peter’s Health Partners and St. Joseph’s Health. “Our goal has always been to come to a resolution that allows SPHP and UHC to continue to meet the needs of our patients and our community, today and into the future.”
