GREENE COUNTY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has been operating a senior call-in program for four years to help ensure local senior citizens’ safety and peace of mind. Program members are asked to call (518) 731-4273 daily, between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. to ensure they are doing well.

If the sheriff’s office doesn’t receive a phone call by 10:15 a.m., deputies will call the individual, the emergency contact(s) provided, and a patrol unit will arrive at the residence for a wellness check. The program isn’t required, but those who apply with major medical precautionary information are encouraged to tell officers who may help them when in need.

Those away for vacation, hospitalization, or any other long-term activities are asked to let the Sheriff’s Office know the dates and times so that a patrol unit is not dispatched.
