La Crosse, Chippewa County receiving millions for affordable housing efforts

MADISON (WKBT) -- The Driftless Region is receiving state money for affordable housing projects.

Governor Evers has awarded $16 million in community development grants.

La Crosse County will receive $3.5 million, while both Chippewa and Juneau County get $2.5 million.

The grants will help offer favorable loans to low and moderate-income residents making huge home repairs or looking to buy a home, according to an official release.

The Wisconsin Department of Administration provides the money to seven regions on a biannual basis.
