New OakLeaf clinics open in Chippewa and Rusk counties

CORNELL, Wis. (WKBT) -- New OakLeaf clinics opened in Chippewa and Rusk Counties Wednesday.

Clinics opened in former Prevea Health locations left vacant in Cornell and Ladysmith following HSHS and Prevea's controversial exit from the region in March.

OakLeaf officials said the Cornell clinic expanded current space to accommodate more patients and will add in-house lab services as well as outreach specialty services.

The Ladysmith clinic will add Endocrinology, Cardiology, Urology, Ob/GYN, General Surgery, and Podiatry outreach services in addition to services previously offered at the former Prevea clinic.

The new clinics are part of four planned in the Chippewa Valley. Clinics in Menomonie and Rice Lake are expected to be open within the coming weeks.

The citizens I have talked to greatly appreciate Oakleaf's ongoing and demonstrated commitment to our communities. FRankly with the way Prevea handled this entire situation I think they should be banned from doing business *anywhere* in the state. Thanks again to Oakleaf management and Board of Directors.
