Viroqua opens community safe room to shelter from incoming severe weather

VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) -- The City of Viroqua will open a community safe room due to incoming severe weather Tuesday night.

The safe room is located on the lower level of Viroqua City Hall at 124 West Decker Street. City officials say the room is "built to resist wind forces, wind-driven rains and other debris impacts from a storm."

Officials said the space also provides access to basic essentials like bathrooms, drinking water, food (limited), sanitation, first aid and electricity.

The shelter will be open from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
