    UPDATE: Officials say there is no threat from hazardous materials released in Richland Center

    RICHLAND CENTER, WIS. (WKBT) -- A statement has been released regarding the hazardous materials spill in Richland Center.

    On Tuesday, water treatment chemicals were released from a plant boiler at Foremost Farms. The chemicals entered a storm drain and flowed into a tributary of the Pine River.

    Officials have confirmed there are no threats to the public, wildlife, or the environment. They said the chemicals did not reach the Pine River. Water samples were taken downstream, upstream and in the tributary, all of which tested normal.

    RICHLAND CENTER, Wis. (WKBT) -- Hazardous materials were released from a boiler in Richland County on Tuesday.

    In a Facebook post, Richland County Emergency Management said chemicals were released from a boiler at an industrial plant in Richland Center around 2:41 p.m.

    At 7:10 p.m., emergency management said the following:

    "The chemicals flowed to a rainwater containment area, and the spill is no longer active. There are no immediate threats or hazards to the public or livestock and no action needs to be taken by residents at this time. The situation is under control and all partners are working together to develop a mitigation plan."

    Multiple agencies including Richland Center FD, Vernon County Hazmat and Wisconsin DNR were on scene.

    Information regarding what chemicals were released or what areas were affected have not been released.

    Richland County Emergency Management said they will provide updates as they become available.
