Local 4-H club shows off their animals at the Houston County Fair

CALEDONIA, Minn. (WKBT) -- Hens and Holsteins lined the barns at the Houston County Fair Wednesday as a local 4-H club showcased their animals.

The club's mission is to engage youth in learning life skills through the 4 H's: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. Children in the program care for animals such as cows, horses, and goats throughout the summer, preparing them for their appearance at the fair.

4-H parent Wes Porter highlighted the benefits of the club.

"They learn public speaking, interacting with adults, giving demonstrations, caring for animals, creating projects, and working as a team within their club," said Porter.

The fair runs through Sunday and the Houston County 4-H club will be showing their animals daily.
