La Crosse Northwoods League championship game bound after 8-1 win

The game of baseball is all about getting hot at the right time and the Loggers have picked a couple good stretches to play well.

Back in June, La Crosse rattled off nine wins in a row to set themselves up for a first place finish in their division in the first half of the season. Now they've won three straight in the postseason propelling themselves to the league's title game.

Both elements of the game were clicking on Wednesday night as the pitching allowed just three hits to the St. Cloud Rox and the offense sent out 11 hits scoring 8 runs.

Matthew Miura and Ryan Kucherak both knocked out home runs in the opening frame to set the tone and the Loggers wouldn't look back from there.

The visitors added runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings and that would be plenty as Myles Dismute, Maddax Peck, Nick Hanson and Ozzie Martinez combined to allow just one run and that wasn't earned.

Now La Crosse will make the nine hour and twenty minute drive east to Kalamazoo as they'll take on the Growlers on Thursday with first pitch beginning at 5:35 p.m. CST.
