Democrats in Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District rally support for Rebecca Cooke after primary victory

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Democrats from Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District made a stop in La Crosse Friday to rally behind Rebecca Cooke.

After Tuesday's primary, Cooke is set to face Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden in November.

Cooke's competitors for the spot, Katrina Shankland and Eric Wilson, have now become her allies, backing her in what the party is calling a "3rd District unity tour."

Cooke on Friday thanked her primary opponents and vowed to deliver for the district in a bipartisan manner.

"I'm going to work across the aisle to get things done for people in the 3rd, Cooke said. "So often I feel like people want the credit from their party, and I am going to work with whoever to get things done. It doesn't matter who gets the credit. But we have work to do; it is clear that people in Washington are too busy playing partisan games than delivering for folks."

The unity tour also included stops in Viroqua and Eau Claire over the last couple days.
