Menards in Eau Claire ordered to stop selling certain pesticides by environmental agency

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) -- Menards in Eau Claire was directed to stop selling some pesticide products.

Saturday, The United States Environmental Protection Agency had ordered Menards Incorporated in Eau Claire to cease selling unregistered pesticide products.

The company was no longer allowed to sell Antimicrobial Filters and Allergen Filters, which contained unregistered pesticides and were being sold online. The EPA claimed that the company's website suggested these products could or should be used against COVID-19.

According to federal law, all pesticides had to be evaluated through the EPA's registration process to ensure that they performed as intended before being distributed or sold.

The pesticide would not be registered until it was deemed safe for use.
