Timberwolves hoping position battles in practice breed success

After their most wins in almost a decade, Tomah is hoping to keep their program on an upward trend.

There will be some key pieces missing from last year's squad but there is excitement within the Timberwolves locker room regardless.

Intensity at practice is high with the competition for starting roles up for grabs.

"Intensity's definitely picking up I feel like. I feel like guys are starting to realize that we do have games and we can't be slacking or just not caring as much. We have to really double down and execute and focus on what we're doing," said senior linebacker and running back Bruce Rezin.

It was a tight loss in the first round of the playoffs for Tomah last season but they finished the regular season on a high note rattling off three straight victories.

Joe Protz, who is now in his fifth year, is optimistic that despite having a younger team that the good habits that were established last season will carry on and continue to spread.

The Timberwolves begin their season at home on Friday welcoming the Richland Center Hornets to town with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
