DE SOTO WIS. (WKBT) -- The Department of Natural Resources partnered with local law enforcement to teach kids to fish at the 2nd annual Cops and Bobbers.

Kids ages 7 to 15 were welcome to join officers at Blackhawk Park in De Soto to fish and go on boat rides on the Mississippi.

Community members donated boats and other supplies in order to make the event possible.

Organizers started the program so kids who have never been on the river would get an opportunity to enjoy it.

"I love fishing, but also helping kids would be the best part about this. Like going on boat rides and seeing fish they've never seen before. And going outside to fish," said attendee Wyatt Johnson.

The DNR also put on a fish fry for all attendees with the fish that they had caught during the day.
