Central suffer opening night loss at Waunakee

After they saw their season come to an end against the Warriors last year, the Riverhawks were once again shut out in Waunakee.

It was always going to be a tough game to open your season with if you're a Central player or coach but the Riverhawks will take the lessons they learned Thursday and look to improve in week two.

The Warriors were a state team in 2023 and they looked strong once again as Sully Scadden scored the first touchdown of the game on a run play inside the five.

Then in their next drive, Vance Johnson threw up a deep ball to Cooper Johanns and he would score.

Waunakee gets the shutout victory 38-0. Central will be back in action next week against Ellsworth at home.
