1 dead, 1 injured in Crawford Co. motorcycle crash

FREEMAN, Wis. (WKBT) -- One person is dead and one is injured following a motorcycle crash on State Hwy 35 in the Township of Freeman on Sunday.

According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, witnesses say a motorcyclist lost control after breaking and swerving behind vehicles that were stopping behind a car waiting to turn onto Bluegill Dr.

After losing control, the motorcyclist, 39-year-old Mathhew Keleman of La Crosse, and his passenger, 48-year-old Tanille Zemple of La Crosse, were ejected from the motorcycle.

Zemple sustained minor injuries during the accident. Keleman also sustained injuries, which he later succumbed to after being airlifted to a hospital.

The Sheriff's Office said Zemple and Keleman were not wearing helmets or protective gear.

The crash remains under investigation.
