Luther's Kendall feeling confident in third season as starting quarterback

A bunch of area teams are off to 2-0 starts to the 2024 WIAA football season, one of those teams being the Luther Knights.

Luther got wins over Blair-Taylor and Bangor to start the year, but now its time for conference play and the Knights are back in the Coulee Conference for the first time since 2019.

The Knights have made the playoffs each of the last three season. Now in his third season as the starting quarterback, Senior, Jackson Kendall is confident in his game, even though the pre game butterflies are still there.

"You still get nervous before every game but that's a good thing. And the experience has definitely helped me. The game is definitely slowed down a lot. My sophomore year. It was going really fast, and I always didn't make the right place and just didn't always execute them the best that I could. And this year slowed down, and I know where to go with the ball more and just know what to do with it," said Luther senior, Jackson Kendall.

The team has faced an injury bug early in the season as they've seen a couple of offensive lineman go down, but its next man on mentality and they know they just need a few seconds so Kendall can make a play.

"Up front, we just know if we give him time, he'll make something happen. So it just gives us a little more drive to give him that extra few seconds, whatever it is," said Luther senior, Kayden VanLoon.

"I've seen him really evolve that way with, managing the game even better and managing the teammates. Now to show his leadership has been just outstanding," said Luther head coach, Jeff Komay.

The Knights begin Coulee Conference play this Friday, September 6th, when they host G-E-T.
