Venezuelan gang member arrested for domestic battery

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WKBT) -- The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on a suspected Venezuelan gang member who was arrested for domestic battery.

On Thursday, September 5, at 12:30 p.m., the Prairie Du Chien Police Department responded to the 300 block of East Wells Street for a physical disturbance.

When police arrived, they were informed about a man who had physically and sexually assaulted a woman. Later, they discovered that a child was also injured during the incident.

The man was later identified as 26-year-old Alejandro Jose Coronel Zarate.

Zarate was arrested and is facing several charges, including

Domestic Disorderly Conduct, two counts of Domestic Battery, Strangulation/Suffocation, Physical Abuse to a Child, Disorderly Conduct, and two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault.

Zarate also had warrants through Dane County, Wis, for Strangulation/Suffocation, False Imprisonment, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.
