Warm and mostly dry conditions for the week ahead

W H AT WE ARE TRACKING: Breezy conditions and f ew sprinkles are possible Tuesday ; otherwise, plenty of sunshine and warmth for the week ahead.

NEXT 24 HRS: Clear skies this evening and most of the overnight hours, with temperatures falling into the middle 50s to low 60s. Cloud cover will increase late tonight, with skies becoming mostly cloudy by Tuesday afternoon as a weak system lifts northeast through the region. There is a slight chance for some folks to see some light sprinkles on Tuesday. However, we currently have very dry air situated above us causing much of the rain to evaporate before reaching the surface. Y et , the chance for a stray sprinkle remains with a 20% chance of rain. Tuesday will also be a bit breezier with winds out of the south blowing at 10-15 mph . Gusts could be as high as 25 mph.

LOOKING AHEAD: Cloud cover decreases Tuesday night, setting a sunny and a very warm/hot Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures could approach 90 in a few locations. Cloud cover will increase as the tropical system moves northward towards southern Illinois on Friday. Although most of the moisture from this decaying tropical system will stay well southeast of the area, cloud cover will be the rule through the weekend and the first days of the following work week, with a few widely scattered showers. Despite the cloud cover the high temperatures should remain slightly above average (upper 70s to low 80s). A series of systems may bring better rain chances from the middle or end of the following work week.
