Town of Campbell to petition for village incorporation

TOWN OF CAMPBELL, Wis. (WKBT) -- The Town of Campbell is petitioning to incorporate as a village.

According to their website , the Town of Campbell has already started incorporation process, which includes creating a petition to be signed by residents that are both landowners and qualified electors.

In order to file the signed petition with the Circuit Court, the town must receive at least 50 signatures. If the petition meets the standards of the Circuit Court and the Incorporation Review Board, a referendum will be held, allowing residents to decide through voting.

The Town of Campbell's website says the incorporation will give them full municipal powers, which allows them to prevent annexations, permanently secure borders and preserve the area.

The petition will be available to residents starting Oct. 2. The town will also hold an information session at 6 p.m. that day.
