    Walk To End Alzheimer's

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) -- The Winona community is coming together to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's disease.

The event kicked off at Jaycee's pavilion in lake Park, featuring a one-mile route.

All funds raised will support vital care and research efforts through the Alzheimer's Association.

For many attendees, the disease strikes a personal chord.

"This cause is so meaningful to me. My grandpa had dementia and Alzheimer's, and I just really walk to honor him. He passed away a couple of years ago, so I walk to honor him," said Emily Auth, committee member for the walk to end Alzheimer's.

Each registered participant received a promise garden flower, with each color symbolizing a unique connection to Alzheimer's disease. The walk has successfully raised over $50,000.
