Engage Winona block party encourages community involvement, voting

WINONA (WKBT) -- Engage Winona threw a community block party Friday night at Peter's Biergarten in downtown Winona.

The public was invited to mingle with local organizations, including the League of Women Voters of Winona who were there to provide information on voter registration and some recent changes to Minnesota laws.

"Winona also has some of the lowest voter turnout in Minnesota. This is an opportunity to normalize voting and to talk about voting in the same sense as being concerned about your community and wanting to make your community better," says Dan Wilson, policy assistant for Engage Winona.

The block party is part of Engage Winona's series of block parties aimed at enhancing civic engagement. This was the final one of the summer.
