La Crosse Fire Department educates the public on fire risks for National Fire Prevention Week

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Check your smoke alarms, because National Fire Prevention Week is officially underway.

The La Crosse Fire Department is hosting a series of events aimed at educating residents on fire safety.

They are visiting local schools, spreading the word to children on the importance of creating an escape plan, and having functional smoke alarms, pushing the theme of this year, 'Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!'

The fire department is also offering free installation of 3 smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide detector through a partnership with American Red Cross. Click here to sign up.
