Over $160 million approved for state building projects

MADISON (WKBT) -- Over $160 million from Wisconsin's State Building Commission was Tuesday for projects around the state -- including some updates at UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire.

Projects at UW-La Crosse will make extensive repairs to exterior envelopes and renovate the Wing Technology Center. Renovations are also planned for UW-Eau Claire's Haas Fine Arts Center.

Included in the money approved are $50 million in community projects made possible by a new Non-State Grant program created last November.

That money goes to 50 different projects, including three in our area:

    • $30,000 to Tellurian Behavioral Health Inc. to support mental health crisis stabilization, hospital, and jail diversion services at their new Jackson Street facility in La Crosse
    • $700,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Chippewa Valley for the renovation of the Lee & Mary Markquart Center
    • $2 million to Vernon Memorial Healthcare Foundation for MRI construction and to enhance access to healthcare
