Sparta man facing attempted homicide charge following incident Sunday

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) -- A Sparta man now faces attempted homicide charges following an incident Sunday.

39-year-old Andrew Nauman faces 1st degree attempted homicide related to an incident Sunday morning at the 100 block of West Oak Street.

Sparta PD said officers found a woman with life-threatening injuries. Police do not specify the woman's injuries in the release, other than her condition at the time. She was airlifted to a trauma hospital.

Nauman was initially arrested for bail jumping. That's connected to a June incident in which he's charged for battery and strangulation of a different victim, police said. He was out on a signature bond.

Following their investigation, authorities referred charges of 1st degree attempted homicide, aggravated battery and disorderly conduct.

In court Tuesday, Nauman was given a $1,000 signature bond for the bail jumping charge and a $1,000,000 cash bond for the other pending charges.
