Tomah VA Medical Center hosts Recovery Rally

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) -- On Thursday, The Tomah VA Medical Center reached out to veterans and the community.

They hosted a "recovery rally at the VA's veteran's hall.

The rally provided information about mental health and recovery programs in the area for both veterans and the public.

This includes peer support and trauma-informed care.

The psychiatric clinical pharmacist practitioner said self-care is essential because we can't care for others if we don't care for ourselves.

" I think our main message is just remembering that we can't take care of others if we don't take care of ourselves first so that we can continue our mission to take care of our veterans as best as we can," said Haley Pals.

Guest speakers also shared insights on issues affecting veterans and the community.
