Quilt Fest showcases diverse pieces from local artisans

ONALASKA (WKBT) -- The La Crosse Area Quilters showed off original works from local and regional artisans at their bi-annual "Quilt Fest on the Mississippi" Friday.

The event goes until Saturday at the Omni Center with over 240 quilts on display. This year they are featuring Hmong quilts and other traditional methods of quilting.

One organizer says she intends to continue the rich tradition of quilting because of the joy it brings to others.

"Having something finished that I can be proud of and having that piece and presenting it to somebody and just seeing the smile on their face and the joy that it brings people," says Rebecca Neely, treasurer of the La Crosse Area Quilters.

The Quilt Fest continues Saturday from 9am - 4pm. The next quilt show will be in October of 2026.
