Armed murder suspect from Compton arrested after a traffic stop in Irvine

Last night, a police officer stopped a car for a vehicle code violation near Jamboree and Main St. , according to the Irvine Police Department .

The police officer determined the man had an active warrant for his arrest for murder.

Additional officers rapidly responded and took Carlos Salazar Jr. , 44, of Compton , into custody.

During an inventory search of his vehicle, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun.

Salazar was booked at Orange County Jail for his warrant and carrying a concealed gun.
