TEEN DEATH: A student from Madison Middle School in Boone County has died after sustaining injuries during football practice on Friday, Aug. 23. Schools throughout the Kanawha Valley are sharing their condolences with family and friends of 13-year-old Cohen Craddock. Students and staff at Nitro High School were asked to wear red and black -- Madison Middle School's team colors -- on Monday in Craddock's memory. South Charleston High School will do the same on Wednesday, Aug. 28. "Our hearts go out to Boone County’s Madison Middle School Redhawks as they face the loss of a young football player and friend, Cohen Craddock," SCHS officials wrote on social media. "The entire SCHS community stands with the Madison Middle community during this difficult time."

Deer and elk hunters who bought a multi-season permit application this year could pick up an extra deer or elk tag, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife reports. Starting today, the next 130 hunters on the original draw list will get to choose from one of 2,369 remaining multi-season deer tags and 130 multi-season elk tags, according to the WDFW. The original multi-season draw, the department reports, is being used to prevent people from flooding retail locations.

A worker died Aug. 5 when the crane he was operating toppled at a wind farm construction site in remote Natrona County, state and local officials say. The victim, John William Hoffpauir, Jr., 55, of Houma, Louisiana, was working as a crane operator at the Cedar Springs wind energy construction site north of Casper and Glenrock under the control of Blattner Energy at the time of the accident. Hoffpauir was a Blattner Energy employee, a spokesperson for the company told WyoFile.
