Calhoun defeated Ingleside 3-0 in district play Friday night.</figcaption></figure>The Sandcrabs varsity baseball team defeated the Ingleside Mustangs 3–0 Friday evening in district action at home.Ricky Martinez and Kadin Resendez combined for the shutout for Calhoun, surrendering only 4 hits over the course of the game.Resendez earned the win as he came in and pitched the final 5 innings, striking out 7 while walking only 1.Martinez started the game for the Sandcrabs with 2 strong innings, striking out 4 Ingleside hitters.The Sandcrabs opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Jaxon Ondreas crossed the plate on a wild pitch.Calhoun was able to get a little breathing room in the bottom of the third inning after a 1-out double by Martinez. With Martinez on second, Resendez drove him home with a line drive single to left field.The Sandcrabs were able to string along 3 more base hits in the inning from Demetrio Rodriguez, Ondreas and Layten Rodriguez tallying the third run of the game.The Crabs collected nine hits in the game as Alex Parker, Martinez and Layten Rodriguez each had two hits on the night. Parker also had 2 stolen bases.Beeville 4, Sandcrabs 3The Sandcrabs suffered a 4-3 loss to on the final play of the game.After Beeville scored 2 runs in the first inning, the Sandcrabs tied the game in the top of the fourth inning, thanks in part to back to back triples by Martinez and Resendez.Resendez later was able to score on a sacrifice fly by Ondreas to tie the game.Calhoun took the lead in the top of the sixth inning with another triple by Resendez followed by an RBI single from Rodriguez to give the Sandcrabs a 3-2 advantage.The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when Beeville doubled, scoring the winning walk-off run.Martinez was impressive for the Sandcrabs on the mound. The starting pitcher went 6 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) and struck out 8 Beeville players.</div></body>
