There was absolutely no publicity about this. Lowndes county residents outside the Columbus city limits have to pay school taxes too. I found out the day of the vote from a friend working the election. I called every person I know in my neighborhood and none had heard of it. Apparently there was a postcard sent out advertising the referendum, but people outside the city limits did not get the card. This is taxation without representation. I voted NO!
