I strongly advise against the public encroachment of Eglin AFB. With these properties if granted and turned residential there will eventually be problems. People will move here unaware of the potential noise from the Eglin Ranges and aircraft and complain and demand changes. It had happened at every one of our military bases as the public encroachment continues. Our military is currently preparing for war by 2030 and should that occurs Eglin has the very real possibility of becoming a very busy facility. It is not just an Air Force facility, there is also Army and National Guard facilities on Eglin. During WWII there were POW compounds on Eglin. If housing is to be built on these properties it would be better that it be military housing for potential large influxes of military personnel should the need arise. A VA hospital would also be a very good choice for one or more of these parcels, but civilian housing is and would be a mistake.
