The thing about exoneration is that it doesn't repair the damage done by having your photo published for being charged with a crime in the first place. I've been charged with a crime before and had the charges dropped. If I want that expunged off my record, it's between $7,000-10,000 when it's all said and done. What does that mean? It means that if I have a background check run it will show that I was charged with a crime previously. Yes, even though the charges were dropped, I am responsible for paying an attorney to have that removed from my record. That also doesn't mean the newspapers will print a retraction either, so anyone who saw my arrest photo, which was published in the newspaper, assumes I did what I was arrested for.
