The Cigna Group Foundation has announced the launch of a three-year, $9 million initiative to improve the mental health and well-being of military veterans. With a first-year focus on housing stability—including efforts to increase permanent housing, improve housing affordability, and enhance wraparound services for veterans transitioning from shelters—the grant program will support nonprofit organizations leveraging evidence-informed programs and services to help local veterans. To that end, the foundation will prioritize grants in regions where the Cigna Group serves a significant number of customers with high and very high social determinant of health risks, including Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas. Among the first program grantees is Habitat for Humanity International, which received $250,000 to help increase homeownership opportunities to veterans through an expansion of its HUD-VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) initiative.
