I find the pallet shelters to be more palatable than ice fishing tents. The Colorado Village Collaborative operates both micro-communities and the so-called Safe Outdoor Spaces with the tents. Clearing skies overnight through tomorrow morning, lows in the mid 50s-near 60s. Mostly sunny, breezy with areas of haze Friday, highs in the mid 80s. The upper-level low that brought us scattered thunderstorms this afternoon/evening is now moving into Idaho and taking the storms with it. This will allow for clearing skies overnight. Friday, we find another upper-level low developing in the eastern Pacific with ridging to our east. This will increase our pressure gradient a bit producing breezy winds with gusts 15-20 mph by tomorrow afternoon. The low strengthens Friday night through Saturday afternoon as it digs south resulting is a southwesterly flow and ridging in eastern WA/OR. Saturday will be the warmest day of the weekend with highs in the upper 80s-mid 90s. Late Saturday evening/night the low starts moving north, ejecting a strong disturbance into the Pacific Northwest. This system appears to have strong instability and abundant moisture as it pushes into the Cascades and East Slopes. Models are suggesting that the storms could be locally strong to severe Saturday evening-night. Any storms that do develop could produce gusts 45-55 mph, hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain producing local flash flooding along the East Slopes.

A worker died Aug. 5 when the crane he was operating toppled at a wind farm construction site in remote Natrona County, state and local officials say.
