Lyle Schroeder, former longtime president of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sioux Valley Hospital, died Aug. 13 at 89. Mr. Schroeder started at the hospital during his college years working in the housekeeping and maintenance departments. In 1960, he became CEO and president of the hospital. Under his leadership, the hospital became a leader in innovations, cost effectiveness and high-quality medical care, according to his obituary. He worked at the facility for 36 years before retiring in 1996.

A Connecticut health system is notifying patients that their data may have been exposed after a hacker accessed an employee's email account. Farmington-based UConn Health said it recently discovered an unauthorized party hacked the employee's account for a "short period of time" on June 14, and may have accessed and stolen emails. The account included — depending on the patient — names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account numbers, medical treatments, diagnoses, medications and health insurance information.
