Best Ball is the perfect way to kick start your fantasy football draft season, allowing you to learn the player pool and practice navigating yourself through drafts without the commitment of managing the teams all year long. While it’s very quick and easy to draft a ton of Best Ball teams, there is more complexity and strategy to the format than you might think. It’s important to consider things such as roster construction, stacking, positional value, and fantasy playoff matchups while drafting a team if you want to maximize your shot at coming out on top. Not only do you need to focus on winning your 12-man league through the first 14 weeks, but you also need to build your team to maximize its playoff potential, especially for Week 17 which represents the final round with all of the big prizes. I’ll walk you through my thought process of a recent draft I did on Underdog Fantasy, where I undertook a zero RB approach from draft slot number 3.

This is an actual league that is played out and contains 18-man rosters and starts the standard line-up of QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, Flex (RB, WR or TE), PK and DEF.  Scoring of one point per ten yards rushed or received and one point per each 20 yards passing. All touchdowns are six points except four points per passing score. One point per reception is used. Standard scoring for both defenses and kickers.

Because of the nature of the beast, the Buffalo Bills will have to rely on the connection between quarterback Josh Allen and receiver Khalil Shakir in a big way in 2024. The departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis have been highlighted all offseason. However, Shakir is the only returning receiver on the Bills roster that has previously caught a pass from the QB in the regular season–That’s been overlooked.

Josh Allen has been fantasy's QB1 over the past several seasons. Not only is he a dynamic playmaker through the air, he is a helluva runner too. Last year Allen went for 4,306 passing yards along with 29 passing TDs and 14 INTs and while his passing yards were lower on the passing TD side and higher on the INT side as they'd bee in years, he was buoyed by 524 rushing yards and a whopping 15 rushing TDs. He ended up being 36 fantasy points higher than QB2 in 4-point passing TD leagues. That is a massive gap.
