SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Dozens of homes were evacuated after a grass fire burned in the Wilton area of Sacramento County on Thursday afternoon, the sheriff's office said. The Cosumnes Fire Department said the grass fire was threatening structures near Walmort Road and Badger Creek Lane.By 2:30 p.m., Sacramento Metro Fire officials announced that the forward progress of the fire had been stopped at 45 acres. About 20-30 people in total were evacuated and 10 properties were affected, officials said. No homes were damaged or lost, but two outbuildings were destroyed.  Units from the Herald Fire Department and Sacramento Metro Fire were also at the scene. It's also unknown how the fire started.

SACRAMENTO – Part of a street sweeper is hanging off of the W/X Freeway in Sacramento on Friday morning. The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on Highway 50, near the Interstate 5 connector. Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but it appears a vehicle used to clean roads was involved. At least one tire and part of the cab of the street sweeper are hanging off the side of the raised portion of freeway that runs parallel to W and X streets in Sacramento.It's unclear what led up to the crash and if there were any injuries. Sacramento freeways have been dealing with a multitude of incidents on Friday, including just up the road a bit on southbound Interstate 5 where an overturned big rig and car fire have traffic snarled.
