A 12-year-old Texas cheerleader died Monday, four days after she suffered mysterious “life-threatening” injuries that her parents tried to treat with smoothies and vitamins, authorities announced Wednesday. 

Jourdanton Junior High School student Miranda Sipps died in the hospital Monday night after her mother finally called for help when the preteen went into respiratory distress, the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

The girl’s mother, Denise Balbaneda, and stepfather, Gerald Gonzalez, 40, were arrested for failing to seek medical help sooner for the girl during the four days while she was “mentally and physically incapacitated and non-responsive,” the sheriff said.

A city parks worker made a creepy discovery Monday near the iconic Jane’s Carousel along downtown Brooklyn’s waterfront — human skeletal remains including a skull wrapped in clothing.

The enforcement officer made the grisly find just off the East River at Dock and Water streets in Dumbo around 8:50 a.m., according to authorities and sources.

The remains were covered in clothing, and a pair of boots were also recovered nearby, sources said.

The discovery came less than 24 hours after officers pulled a man’s body from the water just off Red Hook in Brooklyn, cops said.

The dead man, believed to be in his 30s, was discovered near Pier 12 at Van Brunt and Reed streets around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Both cases are still being investigated.

A Florida gastroenterologist has been disciplined after two recent colonoscopy procedures went awry on his watch, including at least one where he couldn’t hear an improperly-sedated patient’s screams because he wasn’t wearing his hearing aids.
