CFS- 9 Fishing Report & Conditions: Good - Very Good (Technical) The Interpretive Site has been doing well but the crowds have followed. With the weed beds being as thick as they can get, hopper-droppers can be a good choice. Luckily, the hopper fishing is picking up. Caddis are starting their migration at 6- 7 AM, while the female Trico emergence starts around 9 AM. The Trico spinner fall starts around 11 AM, and those Trico spinner patterns will work through midday. Midday we’re seeing the Tiny BWO #22-26. Late afternoons and evenings hold male Trico hatches, Caddis egg-laying, and Caddis emergence. With the dropping of flows, bird predation is getting worse in shallower water, so expect the fish to move under the banks and weed beds.

A great white shark thrilled anglers recently in Cape Cod Bay by following a hooked striped bass to their boat and leaving them with only its head.
The accompanying footage, captured outside Rock Harbor and shared Sunday by Cape Cod Incidents, begins with an angler reeling the striper to the boat with the shark apparently holding on but not resisting.
“He’s swimming to us,” one angler observes.
“He didn’t let go,” another cautions.

Matt at Black Hall Outfitters in Westbrook told me that the local fishing has remained pretty similar to last week, with the exception of some big numbers of small bait moving in and instigating some big schoolie bass blitzes. Bigger bass can be caught as well, but morning and evening, along with after dark is your best bet. The usual suspects, such as GT eels and other big soft plastics, live eels/bunker, large topwaters, and trolling tubes have been the top producers. There are some nice gator bluefish around as well, but they are scattered, with the better reports coming from the west and from Plum Gut. Snapper bluefish have invaded the Sound and can be found chewing on those concentrations of small bait. Keeper sea bass have been more prevalent in 80 feet of water or more, where they’re being caught on Daiwa SK Jigs. Fluke are starting to transition to deeper water, and with that, some nice fish are hitting the scales. Scup fishing has been as steady as ever, while summer tautog anglers are starting to report better results.
