I volunteer at a shelter. We are facing the same problems. Before a you or cat is adopted it has to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and examined by a veterinarian. All this costs money. Donations are down. Adoption fees barely cover the cost of getting the animal ready . Shelters are NOT for profit but they need to pay got staff to care for the animals, surgical care, food and so many other things

We have to slow down breeding this is getting out of hand. We can't continue to have owners who just give up on taking care of their pets. It really bothers me when I see dogs just sitting in pens.
