We have arrived at the doorstep of the weekend and we finish off another cool start to the day Most morning lows were in the 40s and 50s while some warmer urban areas were closer to 60. We will start to see temperatures move higher over the next few days though humidity will be much slower to rise. High pressure is overhead and moving offshore today. We will see mostly sunny skies. Most high temperatures today will be in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. There are no issues regarding showers as the radars are going to be nice and quiet today and probably through most of the weekend.

HONOLULU (AP) — Tropical Storm Hone was expected to deliver strong winds and heavy rain to Hawaii this weekend, particularly to the Big Island and Maui, as it passes south of the island chain. Forecasters believe it will strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane for part of the time it skirts past the state. A tropical storm watch was in effect Friday for Hawaii County, which includes all of the Big Island, according to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu. The August storm has evoked memories of the powerful hurricane south of Hawaii that helped fuel a deadly wildfire that destroyed Maui’s Lahaina town during a drought last summer, but the National Weather Service said Hone was not creating the same conditions. Hone, which means “sweet and soft” in Hawaiian and is pronounced hoe-NEH, was expected to bring sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph (32 to 48 kph) and gusts of 50 mph (80 mph) to Maui and the Big Island. Oahu and Kauai were forecast to get slightly weaker winds.

The remnant low that was Tropical Storm Debby continues to track northward. The low center is moving through Central Pennsylvania and will turn eastward across Upstate NY and Northern New England. This means the heaviest rain will track well to the west with flash flood issues from Central and Western Pennsylvania to Central and Northeastern NY and Northern New England. Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a foster-based rescue organization in Massachusetts, has recently introduced a dog named Blazer who is looking for his forever home. According to the nonprofit rescue organization, Blazer has had quite a journey. “Blazer was one of 7 dogs ‘saved’ by another rescue down in Texas and when he was just a young puppy. Then, he was abandoned by this ‘rescue’ and left in a boarding kennel for 9 months. He is now a little over a year old, and 55lbs.” Thanks to Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. for stepping in to help Blazer, he is now on the path to finding a family to love him.
