I remember my dad and uncle going from our place in Gainesville to homestead for a few months to clean up, they were tree men. that was a devastating storm for sure.

I lived in base housing on Homestead AFB at the time. My house and nearly everything in it was a total loss, my kids beds were shredded from flying glass, there were 1"x 6" boards driven thru the walls in the hallway and interior walls, the only thing left of the trailer park right outside the gate were the metal frames strapped to the concrete pads, 5 sq. miles of the Naranja Lakes subdivision was leveled, as were many of the bldgs on the base, the chapel, shoppette, the huge RV & Boat parking lot was swept clean, all the boats and RV's were piled 30 ft high along the west side of the parking lot, the doors were blown off hanger 741 and the other hangers, roofs peeled back or missing, glass blown out of the control towers cab, wind gauge locked on 200 mph.
